Board News
The next Board of Directors meeting is set for May 21st, 7PM at Gail
Sillers house. These meetings are
open to all WWHO members.
Folsom Lake Mutual Water – check the street for run off!
Now with the summer heat here, check your sprinkler lines for break
and leaks, broken sprinkler heads, missing or plugged up drippers.
Also recheck your timers to ensure they are watering appropriately.
At this time of year, you shouldn’t water lawns more frequently
than every 3rd day.
CC&R
Update
Ballots must be postmarked no later than May 24th to
count in the election. My
understanding is that an absent ballot is the same as a No since 51% of the
homeowners must vote yes to approve it. A
summary of the changes are posted on the web page.
If you have any questions, contact Gail Sillers.

Moon Walk on
Saturday, June 22nd:
Join us
on Saturday evening, June 22nd for the second Walden Woods Moonlight Walk
through the Common Area. At 8:00 PM
we'll start meeting up in Bill Furnas' back yard (8345 Walden Woods Way) and
leave at 8:30 for a nice Moon lit walk through the Common Area.
We'll end up at the picnic table on Sunset hill for wine and snacks.
The walk is short, but pleasant.
Bring flashlights. We'll
have spares if you forget!
Common Area:
Firewood Available – Firewood is still available from the fire fuel abatement work.
These pieces are available to any homeowner. If you need access by truck
into the common area, check with Bill Furnas for a key to the gate.
Poison Oak: The
Poison Crew (Victoria and I) is gearing up again for this year’s battle.
Our plan is first to hit the trails and the areas cleared out last year
before taking on new ground. Keep
an eye out as there is some Poison Oak on or adjacent to the pathways. It’s
easy to spot – small, green and lush.
Wild Flowers – The wildflowers have been coming up like crazy.
Various crops are coming and going with beautiful flowers.
Each week is a new delight as new flowers replace last week’s blooms. Visit the common area and check them out.
Some of the best viewing areas are along the Picnic Hill loop, the Center
Trail and Carter’s Trail. Check a
recent wildflower
photo on our web.
Sally Robison:
The memorial service at Sunset Christian Center in Rocklin was a wonderful
celebration of her life. Almost two hours full of reminiscing about her
life and impact on others.
Wildflower
Walk a success!
About 20 people including 10 kids joined Terri Hawkyard’s spring
wildflower walk in the common area. The
beautiful weather provided a great opportunity to meet other families in the
area. Check out the walk photos (1,2,3,4)
and the group picture
on the Walden Woods web site.
Thanks a bunch to Terri for setting it up and Bill for guiding the
group!

If you
see these teens on the street, give them a special thanks for putting on this
event!
A Caring
Neighborhood
A
neighborhood is more than a place where people sleep or grab a bite to eat.
A neighborhood can and should be an important community in which people
of all ages feel cared for and secure.
Walden
Woods is a caring neighborhood where we promote the norm of knowing our
neighbors, finding out what we have in common and solving concerns to strengthen
our neighborhood.
We have
many wonderful pets and responsible pet owners that are an integral part of our
community. We would ask pet
owners that exercise their pets to please carry with them a doggy bag to deposit
any “deposits” their pets make along their walk.
This community request is out of respect and courtesy for our neighbors
and friends in Walden Woods, out of respect for the health of the children who
play in the neighborhood, out of respect for the landscape personnel who
maintain yards in the neighborhood and out of respect for the general quality of
having a clean, litter-free neighborhood.
This
nicely stated note was sent by one of our Walden Woods neighbors, Shari Crow.
I have to agree with her. As
an example, two days before I got her note, Victoria and I cleaned up
“deposits” during the Easter Egg Hunt left by two dogs of families enjoying
the event. So please go ahead and bring your pet when out walking or jogging in
the neighborhood, but also please bring that doggy bag. – Guy Hall
Directory Updates:
If you didn't get a 2002 Walden Woods Phone Directory, contact
Denese Holden at 652-0856.
Get out your pen to make these changes / corrections received in the last month:
q Greg & Sheri Bomhoff phone number is: 660-0531.
q
Please welcome Dave
& Judy Vitton to the neighborhood. They have moved into the former Killingsworth residence at
8190 Parus Way. Their phone is
652-4396.
Other changes / corrections received since the directory was published in November and included in prior newsletters:
·
If you see Terri Ryland,
ask her about her new exciting job with Government Financial Strategies, Inc, a
firm specializing in school district financing (ranging from bond issuances,
leases, other long-term financing, developer fee studies, etc.)
She’s working downtown (have her people contact your people and do
lunch!)
·
We’re loosing one of
our neighbors. In case you haven't
noticed the increased activity at 8220 Parus (lot 20), Mary Low Stone and family
have moved. She sent a nice note
saying they enjoyed their time here, but the Ooley’s who rent the house from
them decided it was time to sell. The
entry in your directory is under Ooley.
·
Please welcome Gregory
& Sheri Bomhoff at 6620
Stonehedge Ct as new neighbors.
· Please welcome Thomas & Maureen Higelin at 8665 Woodrock Way as new neighbors.
