Board News

The next Board of Directors meeting is set for May 14th, 7PM at Gail Sillers house.  These meetings are open to all WWHO members.

Folsom Lake Mutual Water

No news is good news.  The FLMWC water utilization still within targets and as a result of everyone's savings, our rates can be held to their current level.

CC&R Update

The CC&R committee is distributing the proposed CC&R changes over the next week.  They will try to meet each homeowner to answer questions.  An informational meeting will also be held on April 4th, 7PM in the Granite Bay Library Meeting room. A summary of the changes will be posted on the web page.  Ballots must be postmarked no later than May 24th to count in the election.  If you have any questions, contact Gail Sillers.

Wildflower Walk on Saturday, April 13:

Terri Hawkyard has set the spring wildflower walk.  This is a walk for young kids and the young at heart.   If you have grandchildren or grandparents, be sure to invite them.

q       When: 10AM, Saturday April 13

q       Where: Bill Furnas’ house on Walden Woods Way (8345 Walden Woods Way)

This ought to be lots of fun since quite a few of our children planned wildflower seeds earlier this year.  Here are a few of the pictures from the event - the group, marching to work, Terri planting seeds, others planting seeds  (Photo1, Photo2, Photo3, Photo4), distracted by a pile of dirt and refreshments afterwards.

Terry plans on providing water and a trail mix snack.  If you have questions, just call Terri.  I’ll include a note in the next newsletter as well.

Block Party On the Calendar for Saturday, May 11th:

Cindy Fuzie has set the date for the Spring Walden Woods Block Party.  Mark this afternoon down on your calendar – more information to follow.

Common Area:

Common Area Trails – I’ve been out in the common area in the middle of some of the recent storms and the trails have held up wonderfully.  Our common area is now a nice area for walks year-round.  The trails are solid, no problem with mud and scene is still not only attractive but quite different than the summer.  If you’re looking for a few minutes to get out for a walk, try the common area.  Maps can be found on the web page or in your latest directory.

Fire Brush Removal – Take a look in the common area and you’ll some great results from the fire fuel abatement work that took place in the common area.  This year’s effort focused in the southwest corner of the common area.

Firewood Available – Firewood is still available from the fire fuel abatement work.  These pieces are available to any homeowner. If you need access by truck into the common area, check with Bill Furnas for a key to the gate.  To see examples of the firewood available check this photo.

Improvements:  The Common Area gang has been clearing the fire roads and expanding the decomposed granite portions of the picnic hill pathways.

Wild Flowers – The wildflowers are starting to come up.  Everyday we’re seeing more and more wildflower blooms.   Visit the common area and check them out.  Some of the best viewing areas are along the picnic hill loop and around the center trail footbridge.

Join in and help out - the next Common Area Improvement Volunteer days are Saturday, April 6th and 20th.   Show up at Bill Furnas' house (8345 Walden Woods Way) at 9AM.

Directory Updates:

If you didn't get a 2002 Walden Woods Phone Directory, contact Denese Holden at 652-0856.

q       Dave & Judy Vitton have moved into the former Killingsworth residence at 8190 Parus Way.  Their phone is 652-4396.

Other changes / corrections received since the directory was published in November and included in prior newsletters:

·         We’re loosing one of our neighbors.  In case you haven't noticed the increased activity at 8220 Parus (lot 20), Mary Low Stone and family have moved.  She sent a nice note saying they enjoyed their time here, but the Ooley’s who rent the house from them decided it was time to sell.  The entry in your directory is under Ooley.

·         Please welcome Gregory & Sheri Bomhoff  at 6620 Stonehedge Ct as new neighbors.

·         Please welcome Thomas & Maureen Higelin at  8665 Woodrock Way as new neighbors.

News Updates:

If you have something you would like to include in the WW News Update, drop me a note.

This distribution is going out to people on the Walden Woods email information update list. If you would like to be dropped from this  list, reply back indicating so and Guy Hall will personally remove your name from this list.
